70 Years of Floral Artistry: Pulbrook & Gould

Pulbrook & Gould has its roots, quite literally, in the English country garden. It was a chance meeting between Susan, Lady Pulbrook and Rosamund Gould in 1956 that established the esteemed duo and the company has been the go-to for floral artistry ever since.

Lady Pulbrook had grown up in the rambling gardens of English houses and, mourning the death of her husband Sir Eustace, had recently revisited her passion for flowers both wild and styled. Rosamund Gould had been trained under the legendary creative Constance Spry and had with her some enviable connections. With a shared passion for flowers, Gould’s immense skill and ‘Lady P’s’ sizeable address book they established London’s most prestigious florist.

Their original clientele included everyone from the Duchess of Kent and Princess Alexandra to 10 Downing Street and The Dorchester. Operating out of Lady P’s basement in Halkin Street, the business grew exponentially and soon moved to a premises on Sloane Street. Pulbrook & Gould’s floristry has always been tailored to the most discerning of clients; the dynamic pair dressed every dance, dinner and drawing room in the very best London homes and stately piles, with excellent service and continued discretion as paramount.

Fast forward to its near 70th birthday and Pulbrook & Gould has remained at the forefront of England’s floral imagination. Royal households, society weddings and grand stately homes still make up a large part of the client base but you will also find vast installations and contemporary displays in hotels, restaurants and clubs all over London. As a team, their passion for flowers is evident in everything they do…and they do everything. Florist Emmanuel describes how they use seasonal flowers from UK growers whenever they can, but Pulbrook & Gould is also creatively experimental, using bright colour and height to create displays that have huge personality and flair.

From a small posy of peonies on your dressing table to a huge silk floral arch in the Rathbones tent at this year’s Game Fair, you’ll find that Pulbrook & Gould is constantly moving with the times.

As 2025 looms and the diary continues to fill with events great and small, Pulbrook & Gould is open for business with regular home deliveries, weddings and LAPADA to name a few. With no floral brief impossible, it’s looking at particularly exciting times ahead. Lady P would be proud.
