Handel and Hendrix Tour & Recital, a Highlight of the New LAPADA Fringe
One of the most exciting developments surrounding the Berkeley Square Fair this year is the launch of LAPADA Fringe, a dynamic new festival held across Mayfair and the surrounding area.
As well as bringing a wealth of new interest and entertainment to fair visitors, it provides a wonderful opportunity for a curated selection of luxury businesses, art galleries, and restaurants in the area to engage with a fresh audience at special events and exhibitions.
One of those taking part is Handel Hendrix House, a relatively new and inspired venue that brings together two of history’s most notable composers and musicians in Brook Street.
Handel Hendrix is made up of two houses, separated by a wall and 200 years: Handel’s house at 23 Brook Street and Hendrix’s flat on the top floor of number 25.
George Frideric Handel lived at 25 Brook Street from 1723 until his death in 1759, while Jimi Hendrix moved into an adjoining flat at number 23 in 1968.
The venue celebrates their lives, sharing their music, their stories and collections as a source of learning, enjoyment and inspiration for all.
As part of the LAPADA Fringe, Handel Hendrix will be staging a Tour & Recital on Thursday, October 24 at 6pm.
“Step into history with a guided tour of the Handel Rooms, revealing the mysteries of our Grade-1 listed building,” say the organisers. “Jump ahead into the 1960s on the third floor with a visit of the legendary Hendrix flat for a touch of rock ‘n’ roll and psychedelia. Then experience the vibrancy and intimacy of live music in this space as musicians perform music by Handel and his contemporaries.”
Performance will include an intimate recital by Satoko Doi-Luck and Alice Earll in the Dining room on an 18th century harpsichord.
Tickets cost £60 and come with a complimentary drink.
